Abstract Textile sludge is a waste from the effluent treatment of textile laundries and its incorporation into alternative materials has been proposed as a possibility for its disposal. A systematic search was carried out in literature from this perspective, aiming to observe concentrations of waste material and its preparation, matrices used, technological performance and immobilization of textile waste. The matrices used were mortars, concretes and ceramic bricks, in general, deleterious effects were observed on mechanical characteristics of the materials produced. In concrete and mortars, the fineness had an impact on increase in water demand, which increased mixtures porosity; and organic matter and heavy metals, in cement hydration. Recent studies therefore proposed waste material pre-treatment as a favorable alternative. Increases in porosity also occurred in ceramic bricks, however, due to high organic matter content. Regarding waste immobilization, cementitious materials showed satisfactory performance; ceramic bricks, on the other hand, obtained some results outside the normative limits. Therefore, it is necessary to expand discussions regarding the pre-treatment carried out on textile sludge, as well as its impacts on mechanical and environmental performance.

Resumo Olodo têxtil é um resíduo do tratamento do efluente das lavanderias têxteis e sua incorporação em materiais alternativos tem sido proposta como possibilidade para sua destinação. Foi realizada uma busca sistemática na literatura nesta perspectiva, visando observar as concentrações de material residual e seu preparo, as matrizes utilizadas, o desempenho tecnológico e imobilização do resíduo têxtil. As matrizes empregadas foram argamassas, concretos e tijolos cerâmicos, sendo observados, de maneira geral, efeitos deletérios nas características mecânicas dos materiais produzidos. Em concretos e argamassas, a finura impactou no aumento da demanda de água, o que elevou a porosidade das misturas; e a matéria orgânica e metais pesados, na hidratação do cimento. Estudos recentes propuseram, então, o pré-tratamento do material residual como uma alternativa favorável. Incrementos na porosidade também ocorreram nos tijolos cerâmicos, porém, devido ao elevado teor de matéria orgânica. Quanto a imobilização do resíduo, os materiais cimentícios apresentaram desempenho satisfatório; já os tijolos cerâmicos, obtiveram alguns resultados fora dos limites normativos. Portanto, é necessário ampliar as discussões quanto ao pré-tratamento realizado no lodo têxtil, bem como seus impactos no desempenho mecânico e ambiental.

RESUMO: Estudou-se numericamente o comportamento estrutural resultante de reações álcali-agregado em blocos sobre quatro estacas utilizando software baseado em Método dos Elementos Finitos. Analisou-se a fissuração considerando taxas de reduções nas propriedades mecânicas do concreto (resistência à compressão, resistência à tração e módulo de elasticidade) consequentes da expansão induzida pela reação álcali-agregado (RAA), existentes na literatura. Uma opção para lidar com as mudanças nas propriedades mecânicas, relatadas como influenciadas pelo tipo de agregado reativo, pelas condições ambientais e pelo estado de tensão consiste em usar diretamente o valor das propriedades do material testado na análise, abordagem que foi adotada na pesquisa e implementada no programa de análise. A partir dos resultados encontrados foi possível compreender melhor os três principais efeitos da RAA: expansão, fissuração e degradação das propriedades mecânicas do concreto.

ABSTRACT: The structural behavior resulting from alkali-aggregate reactions on four-pile caps was numerically studied using software based on the Finite Element Method. The cracking was analyzed in terms of reduction rates in the mechanical properties of the concrete (compressive strength, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity) as a consequence of the expansion induced by the alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) referred to in the literature. One option for dealing with changes in mechanical properties, reported as influenced by the reactive aggregate type, environmental conditions and stress state, is to directly use the value of the properties of the material tested in the analysis, an approach adopted in the study and implemented in the analysis. From the results found in the analysis program the three main effects of AAR could be better understood: expansion, cracking and degradation of mechanical properties of concrete.

RESUMO Pavimento permeável é uma alternativa para o manejo das águas pluviais urbanas que permite a redução da precipitação efetiva através do processo de infiltração. O estudo avaliou a capacidade de infiltração de um pavimento permeável (PP) de blocos vazados de concreto no estacionamento da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. A caracterização hidrodinâmica e a capacidade de infiltração foram analisadas em escala real, utilizando infiltrômetro de anel simples de 100 cm de diâmetro através do método Beerkan. Realizaram-se ensaios de infiltração em doze pontos do PP. Foi aplicado o algoritmo BEST na sua versão Best-Intercept e Best-Slope, para a estimativa dos parâmetros hidrodinâmicos da equação de van Genutchen e Brooks e Corey para as curvas de retenção e de condutividade hidráulica da superfície do pavimento permeável. Os valores da condutividade hidráulica saturada determinados pelo método BEST Intercept foram superiores aos obtidos pelo BEST Slope. Os valores da Sorvidade estimados pelo BEST Slope e Intercept foram semelhantes, sendo os valores do BEST Slope ligeiramente superiores. Observou-se moderada variabilidade da infiltração na superfície do PP, como também dentro do mesmo tipo de textura. O método Beerkan demonstrou ser adaptável para medir, em escala de campo, a infiltração tridimensional na camada de revestimento do pavimento permeável.

ABSTRACT Permeable pavement (PP) is an alternative for the management of urban rainwater that allows the reduction of effective precipitation through the infiltration process. In this study was evaluated the infiltration capacity of a PP of hollow concrete blocks in a parking lot of the Federal University of Pernambuco. The hydraulic characterization and the infiltration capacity were analyzed in real scale, using a simple ring infiltrometer of 100 cm in diameter through the Beerkan method. Infiltration tests were carried out at twelve points of the PP. The BEST algorithm was applied in it Best-Intercept and Best-Slope version, to estimate the hydraulic parameters of the van Genutchen and Brooks and Corey equations for the retention and hydraulic conductivity of the PP surface. The values of saturated hydraulic conductivity determined by the BEST Intercept method were higher than those obtained by BEST Slope. The sorptivity values estimated by BEST Slope and Intercept were similar, with BEST Slope values slightly higher. Moderate infiltration variability was observed on the PP surface, as well as within the same type of texture. The Beerkan method proved to be adaptable to measure, in field scale, the three-dimensional infiltration in the PP covering layer.

Resumo O gesso é um material de grande uso na construção civil, destacando-se seu emprego como pasta de gesso para revestimento. No Brasil, o Polo Gesseiro do Araripe é o maior produtor. Percebe-se a necessidade de conhecimento das propriedades e características desse material, principalmente, com foco no produto acabado como revestimento interno em paredes. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho visa realizar um estudo de caracterização de cinco amostras de gesso do Polo do Araripe, e avaliar a capacidade aderente dos revestimentos executados em pasta desses gessos. O estudo de caracterização ocorreu no estado anidro, por meio de ensaios de granulometria, massa unitária, massa específica, teores de água livre e de cristalização; no estado fresco, por meio de ensaios de consistência normal, tempo de pega e calorimetria; e no estado endurecido, por ensaios de dureza e resistência à compressão. Os ensaios de resistência de aderência à tração ocorreram nos revestimentos de pasta de gesso executados em base cerâmica, produzidos com e sem pré-umedecimento da base. Com os resultados, verifica-se que as pastas de gesso apresentam desempenhos satisfatórios e semelhantes, independentemente do porte do fabricante; entretanto, alguns requisitos normativos não são atendidos.

Abstract Plaster is a widely used material in the construction industry, mainly as plaster paste for coating. The biggest producer of plaster in Brazil is the Araripe Gypsum Production Complex. There is an evident need to know the properties and characteristics of this material, focusing particularly on the finished product as coating for internal walls. Hence, this research project consisted in a characterisation study of five gypsum samples from the Araripe Complex, and an evaluation of the bond strength of the coatings made of gypsum plaster paste. The characterisation study was carried out in the anhydrous state, by means of granulometry, unit weight, specific gravity, free water and crystallisation content tests; in the fresh state, normal consistency, setting time and calorimetry tests were performed; and in the hardened state, hardness and compressive strength were tested. The bond strength tests were performed on gypsum plaster paste made on a ceramic base, with and without pre-wetting of the base. The results showed that the plaster pastes had satisfactory and similar performances, regardless of the size of the manufacturer, however, some normative requirements were not met.

RESUMO Devido ao alto consumo de areia de rio na construção civil e sua extração abusiva, cujos resultados são a geração de diversos impactos ambientais, este estudo analisa a influência da utilização de areia de praia em substituição à areia proveniente de leito de rio na produção de argamassas de revestimento. A partir da areia de rio, foram confeccionadas outras duas variações: a primeira possuía 70% de fração fina (partículas <1,18 mm) e 30% de fração média (partículas <2,36 mm); e a segunda, 60% de fração fina e 40% de fração média. Foram utilizados cimento Portland (CP II-Z) e cal hidratada (tipo CHI) como aglutinantes em proporção constante (em massa) de 1:3 (aglomerante/agregado), com variações de 1:1:6 e 1:2:9 (cimento, cal e agregado). O programa experimental consistiu na análise dos agregados (por meio da granulometria e da massa unitária) e das argamassas no estado fresco e endurecido. No estado fresco foi determinada a relação entre o consumo de água e a consistência e a densidade de massa aparente. No estado endurecido determinou-se o coeficiente de capilaridade, a taxa de variação de massa e a resistência mecânica à compressão e à tração. Os resultados indicaram que a areia de praia e a de rio apresentam comportamentos físicos semelhantes, embora a primeira possua distribuição granulométrica mais uniforme e maior quantidade de finos, refletindo diretamente no desempenho das argamassas.

ABSTRACT Several environmental impacts are due to the high consumption of river sand in the construction industry. This study aims to analyze the influence of the use of beach sand in order to use river sand for mortar productions. From the river sand, two variations were made: the first one had 70% of fine fraction (particles <1.18 mm) and 30% of medium fraction (particles <2.36 mm); and the second, 60% fine fraction and 40% average fraction. Portland cement (CP II-Z-RS) and hydrated lime (CHI type) were used as constant and binder ratio (in weight) of 1:3 (binder/aggregate), with variations of 1:1:6 and 1:2:9 (cement, lime and aggregate). The experimental program consisted of the analysis of the aggregates (by means of the size distribution and the bulk density) and the mortars in the fresh and hardened state. In the fresh state, the relation between the water consumption and the consistency and bulk density was determined. In the hardened state, the capillary coefficient, the rate of mass change and the mechanical strength to compression and traction were determined. The results indicated that the beach and river sand presented similar physical behaviour, although the first one has a more uniform particle size distribution and a greater amount of fines, directly reflecting the performance of the mortars.
